Metzgerei Künzli is the first company in Switzerland to use blue light technology with Spectral Blue™ in its production area.
The traditional Künzli butcher's shop at the foot of the Uetliberg in Stallikon is now in its second generation of producing handmade meat and sausage specialties with love and passion. The name Künzli stands for the highest standards of quality and hygiene, controlled living conditions for the animals, a modern and safe working environment for the employees and sustainable production.
The multi-wavelength, high-intensity (MWHI) disinfection devices from Spectral Blue™ were installed in addition to the daylighting and cover the entire room. The powerful L200 devices were used, which achieve great effectiveness with their intensity even in high rooms. The automation of the blue light disinfection by means of a timer enables the disinfection cycles to be efficiently logged in the continuous hygiene monitoring.
Spectral Blue™ is used to supplement existing hygiene processes. After conventional cleaning measures, the blue light safely removes all remaining microbial residues and biofilms and prevents their growth. The innovative technology disinfects work surfaces and air and also reaches small spaces that are difficult to clean using conventional methods.
In addition to the desire to ensure even better hygiene with the additional measure, economic health and sustainability factors such as power consumption and service life also played a major role in the decision to use Spectral Blue™ devices. The Spectral Blue™ devices are powered by electricity from renewable energy sources and the duration of use was calculated taking into account the production and room requirements and the optimum lighting time for decontamination.
With an average product life of 5 years, the installation of LED-based devices is a sustainable investment.
As the visible blue light is harmless to humans and does not produce any hazardous emissions, Spectral Blue™ devices pose no risk to staff. Access to the premises is also possible during illumination. Blue light does not leave any chemical residue on surfaces and does not attack materials such as plastics.
With Spectral Blue™, a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution has been found to further improve the safety and quality of the products.
«We are thrilled to be the first company in Switzerland to use Spectral Blue devices. By using Spectral Blue devices, we prevent cross-contamination in our production chain. We were able to define the optimum period of desinfection while considering also ecological and economic criteria. By using Spectral Blue, the growth and reproduction of unwanted microorganisms is prevented.» Metzgerei Künzli AG
